More news from LRP who have announced the new A.I. Runner Bullet Reverse, a 100% waterproof speed control that can be operated under water with full power. With LRP’s exclusive true Automatic technology, a push button setup is completely unnecessary, just plug-in the speedo and drive. The speed control immediately ‘learns’ the individual transmitter setting and is perfectly set-up for every run with the correct neutral, full speed forward and full speed reverse transmitter settings. Whatever your car’s configuration is, the LRP True Automatic adapts to it and determines your perfect configuration. The ESC also contains a Fail Safe System that continuously monitors the radio signals being sent to your RC car. If incomplete or ‘false’ signals are received as a result of low batteries or radio frequency interference, it will react instantly and shut off your model to protect it against damage.

Without sounding Funny.....

I'll let you guys Buy them, i'll stick with the Good/Best...

C'mon... 80A Rated Current.... My 15 Year Old Tekin 411G2 has 3.5 Times More Rated Current than that !!!!!!!!

I know, it's about Cheapness and Not Racing, but...

The More Amps, the Better...

Get a Cheaper make with Better Specs...

russ do us a favour mate, post up a picture of the ESC you use for racing and all its spec's please mate, and also the ESC you use in your bashing car, you must have a bashing car?

oh yeh and the prices ;)

and when you say more amps the better, whys that? and does having more amps on the ESC lower battery run time or is that just for motors?

you never know untill you ask or told, thats what i say

Ok,

Race Cars... I have the same in Both.

MRT MX Pro. Has 1080 Amps.

Bash Cars...

Tekin 411G2. Has 300 Amps. (Now 14 Years Old !!)

Novak Cyclone TC. Has 480 Amps. (About 5ish Years Old)

Novak 410HPc. Has 300 Amps. ( Now 14 Years Old !!)

As you can see, these are All well Over the LRP's 80 Amps...

Basically, what you gotta remember is... More Amps, More Power Through...

There's also Drive Frequency to Consider.

Again the Higher the Amount the Better. Think of that as... 1 being 1 Hit every Second. 1000, being 1000 Hits every Second. So the Higher the Frequency... The Smoother it is.

Which translates to Easier when Applying Throttle.

And On Resistance...

The Less there is the Better !!!!

Think of it being like running... Trying to Run through Water, you'll be Slow. Run through Air and you'll be Fast....

More Amps does Not equal Less Run Time. Having a Better ESC Will in fact get you More Run Time !!!!

This being because aformentiond Drive Frequency and Better/Less Resistance etc.

Also this translates to Better Life for the Motor.

Hope that Helps a bit.

P.S.

Take a look at Matts Cyclone For Sale... Much Better than that LRP !!!!!

The Difference being.... LRP has Reverse.... I Don't own a ESC with Reverse.. And havn't since i Bought my First Competiotion Spec ESC some 16 Years ago....

Also, One more thing...

Just talking to Rob about something made me realise i'd Missed something out...

The Less Turn a Motor, the More Amps it will Pull, so the More you want the ESC to Handle... Otherwise you might end up Killing the ESC or it going into Shutdown or similar...

superb cheers russ, great info, big help mate  and dam your race ESC has a lot of amps

ill check my LRP esc and find out the specs on that, as you know i want my tt01e to be as fast as i can get it (and as far as cash will let me) so if it means one of thinks i need to get is a better ESC so be it, and if its going to last me years i dont mind paying more then i used to do.

but i must admit having reverse is a must for me.

thanks again mate, im sure we will chat more about ESC's and stuff for my TT01E soon,

Good info Russ, especially when heading towards the high amp stuff.

My CC Hydra 240 runs best when the throttle is wide open. Brushless ESC's actually control your speed by pulsing the power on and then off again in very quick succession. ESC's just do the job of holding back the full power and its when they have to do this with high amps, it all starts to get a bit hot. ;)

Not a direct comparison, but with high end brushless motors/ESC's the manufacturers actually advse that your ESC will last longer if your run W.O.T. for as much of your run time as possible.

an electric motor especially a brushed motor is a very innefficient way of producing power, so the better you can get the motor to perform ie with a decent esc and spot on motor tuning and servicing the more power/speed and runtime you get.
