Title: T-Maxx help
Description: Gears stripping

Matt_N - September 2, 2008 06:20 PM (GMT)
I have a problem with my T-Maxx. I fitted a new spur gear today (70 tooth 32 pitch) and ran it for 1/3 of a tank before the glowplug went and the teeth are very worn already! I think theres a problem with the spur being too tight on the pinion on the motor, but I aint sure? Any ideas people?

Cheers
Matt

When you mesh the gears together, put a peice of paper inbetween them and then push together. This should give you the perfect spacing.

Thanks Jedi I had been told of that trick, havent tried it yet though, but if the gears arent meshing correct, I cant see a way of adjusting them? I suppose it would help if I had a manual for one of these :P

i think you just need to move the engine a bit so that the gear mesh between the clutch bell and spur gear is better, like jedi said, use a pice of paper

not sure 100% about tmaxx's set up/configuration or whatever, but there should be four screws under the engine which you can just loosen so that you can move the engine into the right place

hope it helped :D

hi mate sorry to hear about your MAXX, ive got a MAXX but im no expert i only know what ive had to do.

the tip luke said about putting paper inbetween the gears is a great tip and is a rule of thumb of all models. (i think, lol)

if you dont think your gears are meshing correctly unscrew your motor mount and move your engine a tiny bit untill the gears are sitting correct then screw the motor mount tight again.

matt you know you said your go plug also went, do you mean burnt out? if your engine is running to hot it will heat up your gears which can make them melt and get worn easy, have you got a temp gun to check your engine temp?

let us know how you do mate

Thanks for the help guys. When I get a new glowplug I'll try a few of your ideas out. That may have happened Marc, one of the servo savers twisted round and held the motor on full speed but with the brakes on luckily, would that have stripped the gear and killed the glowplug? It was like that for around 10 seconds before I flipped it to stall the engine.

yeh mate that could have been the problem as everything was working under pressure, that would also make it heat up faster..

keep us posted mate best of luck

matt what engine has your t maxx got in because if someones put a 3.3 in it with the std clutch bell they are 0.8 metric ?? if your running 2.5 engine with 32 pitch clutch bell you need to set it up as jedi says....

Matt_N - September 6, 2008 11:15 AM (GMT)
Jono, i'm still running the standard 2.5. Will be trying a few things out when I buy a new glowplug.
