Well i must admit, this build is going very well, the TT01 Type E is a pleasure to build.. B)

One of the 1st things i will be changing is the stock shocks, i will be replacing them for some 3racing alloy ones :D

With the bearings in the steering arms, it makes the steering very smooth..

Now its time to fit the electrics, these will only be temporary, i will be fitting the tamiya exspec control system, in a month :banana_jump:

LRP runner 20T ESC and hi-tech servo..

Kyosho perfex receiver..

There was one bad bit on the design that i dont like that much and that is the front steering arms that join to the front hubs, they are screwed in, instead of having a ball type fitting, so the movement on the front shock could be made better..

Ill hopefully take it out tomoz for a test run, ill see how it handles, but i may get the adjustable arms, but ill see it it runs 1st.

The 4wd on this is very smooth i must say

Ritchie - September 1, 2008 09:20 PM (GMT)
Looking good Marc!
Depending how patient you are, I've got a tip to trick out those spokey wheels. My Porker GT2 rims were just the same, the reinforced bits looked a bit weird, so with a very fine brush and some black paint, I blacked out where all the holes should be :joker: :gay:
Takes maybe 5 minutes per wheel, makes quite a difference!

Marc.. RC Addict! - September 7, 2008 10:35 PM (GMT)
hi all

i took the TT01E out for a good test tonight, i put some old rally wheels i had and a bashing shell on the chassis then i was ready to go, me and my mate mark went out in the street for a quick bash and few little races

i was very pleased with the way the car handles, unfortunately it looked like a right old banger because of the old shell and wheels, but i was looking past that

the gears sound perfect and it handles well and drives very smooth, even sound smooth as well, its only got the stock silver tin can motor at the moment but it still went some   it should be well fast once ive put new electrics in :banana_jump:

and with its smooth 4wd im sure its gonna drift well :)

Im very happy, this was a great choice, and will soon be the best car ive had, thanks guys

cheers tim

:banana_jump: hopefully ill be starting the paint job on the 911 tomorrow...

Pictures coming soon B)

Marc.. RC Addict! - September 19, 2008 06:18 AM (GMT)
Hi all morning

Im pleased to say i have done a bit more to my TT01 Type E, Porsche 911 :)

Its now got an adjustable tie rod set, these also makes a big difference on the movement of the front shocks.

Ive also finished painting the wheels, heres how they look.. B)
what do you think?

user posted image

user posted image

I must admit, the wheels do look quite good but i did not enjoying painting them that much, it took ages

user posted image

Also, thanks to tim its now got the Tamiya SP TTU-03 radio system

I have now took out the LRP 20t ESC and hopefully some time next week my new V6 10t crazy spec lol ESC will be here so i can wake that in.. (bullets will be took off)

Then once i have some spare cash i will be getting a Yokomo pro stock 2 19t motor and a new motor mount and prop shaft.. hmm my birthday soon i may even get those then. B)

user posted image

Now for a tiny bit of bad news about the project, i did a paint test with the black tamiya PS-5 paint that the book tells you to use, yeh its a nice black but its not going to have the nice matt black finish that i and most of us was hoping for, the photos do make the colour look a little darker then it is though.
Oh well its still a nice black and fingers crossed the 911 will still look good once finished..

Im hopefully going to paint the body shell tonight and get the shell finished by the end of the weekend, as im doing it i will post some more pictures up.

HAPPY RC-ING ALL

+1, those wheels look AWESOME mate!

I'd read somewhere that Tamiya was going to release a spray or something that created the matt effect? I'll see if I can find it again...
Otherwise, a mate of mine once went over a whole shell (except the windows) very carefully with some very fine wet and dry and/ or some light abrasive polish, made the shell go matt and looked surprisingly good!!
Maybe you could try it on your test piece? :joker:

YZ-10 - September 19, 2008 10:06 AM (GMT)
imo the matt finish they acheived is either with special polycarbonate shell that gives a matt finish or they painted on the outside of the shell.

either way it is possible to acheive this somehow as the the xb versions from tamiya have the pre-painted shell

so marc hold fire on it for a minute whist myself or ritchie find info
