Title: clueless newbie

spoon - August 25, 2008 11:28 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone

My name is Ally, I live in North Yorkshire and Im totally new to all of this, bit of a late comer to it too.

Decided a few weeks ago I wanted to delve into the world of RC. I used to build models years ago and then I stopped...in favour of becoming a web nerd.

So in an effort to drag myself away from the Internet and get my brain doing something active Ive gone and bought myself an RC car off eBay. I went for one that needed a little work doing to it so I could have some fun taking it apart, replacing any broken bits, seeing how it all works (or not) and then having some fun painting the shells and so on. Keep me entertained over the winter when Im not at Uni and its too cold/wet to go skating and I cant be arsed with surfing.

Ive got myself an HPI Nitro 1/10 4wd chassis with a Nissan GTR shell on it. I dont know what HPI model it is for certain but I think it might be a RS3. Ill post some pics up at some point and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Im hoping to convert it into a drift car at some point.....so no doubt Ill be on here asking dumb questions such as "what's this?", "what does this do?" and "how do I?"....I can guarantee I will be banned after a few weeks for simply being too stupid.

Well, enough waffling

Timbo: Im based over near Whitby. Used to travel down to York quite regularly to see my brother. Trying to get him into the RC stuff too as hes after a hobby to keep him on the straight and narrow!
