Title: fuel leak!

kcramp66 - August 20, 2008 06:17 PM (GMT)
I am very new to the R/C world and have a problem with my car. There seems to be fuel leaking out of the manifold all over the place. I am still running the car in and the manifold is getting so hot it has already melted once. The shop said that I was running the car too hot but I am running it as rich as I can. Is this normal or is there a big problem??

What size engine and what fuel are you using?

Also, are tuning the top end needle as well as the low end needle??

Its a 0.6 engine and im running 16%nitro. Is the low end needle the smaller one on the side of the carb? Im sure its running far too hot but the keak cant be right can it?

Im not very good for advice as im also learning but here goes, Try putting a bead of water on the head of the engine, if it evaporates almost imeadiatly your running to lean and need to richen the high speed and if it jus sissles away nicely your running okay, as to your fuel leak do you mean the inlet as to were the carb goes on to the engine or the exaust manifold, its not loose by anychance? but maby if fuel is leaking it cud be over fueling from being too rich?
Someone will probably correct me, this is my first try at advice lol
Could you post a vid of it running we could get a better idea then

manifold got a seal?

kcramp66 - August 21, 2008 09:17 AM (GMT)
Its leaking from the manifold. There is a small gasket that went in between the joint but it doesn't seem to do much. The fuel that is leaking is making the manifold very hot and as I think I said I have already had one melt on me. Will try and post a video tonight.

or manifold to pipe?

Manifold to pipe.
