Title: morning! - advice please!
blodders - August 10, 2008 08:15 AM (GMT)
Hi there, new boy here, need to pick all your brains...
Ive been into rc on and off for a good twenty years but always electric, and if you cut me I would bleed tamiya!
Brief history, started with a subaru brat, then after a 15 year break got myself a chevy f150, and a super hornet, Ive only ever used them for wazzing around in the garden.
Ive decided to make the move to nitro, and wondered where to start, my preference is definitley 1/10 off road, buggy or truck but not so keen on the monster trucks, basically I dont want to end up with something that falls apart, or im bored with after a couple of goes, but I dont want to break the bank, about 150 quid.
Ive gone the usual route and had a butchers on ebay, but im a bit concerned about the quality of some of the more obscure makes, that seem to be everywhere, and I must admit that some 1/16 stuff seems very appealing, though im sure ther are drawbacks to the smaller scale.
Right, thats about it, I look forward to getting bombarded with your pearls of wisdom!
cheers!!

Hi dude, welcome to the forum!!!
If your new to Nitro then Traxxas would be fairly safe. I've never had one but most of the guys on here would speak of 'reliability' with them.

And the Reason... Your Budget...
I know and Understand where your coming from, but £150... You really arn't gonna get much. You'll end up with something, thats for Sure, but i wouldn't be too sure how long it will last...
Everyone should know my Answer to this Question already, and a few have taken the Advice before...

Hyper 7 like Russ says.
Schumacher can't go wrong with either.
With the Hyper though you have the option of racing later on if you decide too

why is nothing simple... having scanned the net and various forums, it looks like the old rascal is a bit limited with ground clearance and generaly coping with some of the lumpier stuff, now seeing as i live out inthe boonies with plenty of fields, but none of them have the grass neatly trimmed to an inch long, would I be better off with a shuey riot, only 20 quid more but longer legs, opinions welcome guys?
YZ-10 - August 13, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)
riot also good, guy off here has one i'm sure
now who was it...
russmini - August 13, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)
Yeh, certainly a Bigger Truck...
And, not a bad one at that.
