There's a few different types, maily ABS, conventional type tyres and the Yokomo's.
ABS is very basic but effective for big, high speed drifts, not so good for technical drifting/ control because they're really slippy. They're reasonably long lasting on good surfaces.
There's various more conventional single piece tyres using very hard rubber/ plastic compounds, such as the Tamiya/ HPI/ Pit Shimizu (spelling? :P ) tyres. Some of them are effective, some not so much. The HPI T-drifts are really good all rounders, so long high speed stuff and tighter more technical stuff  I've heard the Tamiya ones are ok, but never seen anyone using them as they're not approved for the competitions. I'm not sure how well these type of tyres last yet, but I'm gonna try a set of HPI's on my TVR for the last couple of D1RC rounds this year so I'll let you know in due course.
As for the Yokomo ones, which are rubber tyres with a ABS-type plastic insert, I've been using these for years (the "Zero-1" single ring ones), and they're very good. The rubber shoulders allow you to tune the amount of grip by playing with camber settings etc, by varying how much of the plastic or rubber is in contact with the floor. Also means when you turn the steering you can get a bit of grip for a good turn-in... Only downside is they don't always last very long, especially if you run quite a bit of camber.
The choice is yours :joker:

marc as you know i use the tamiya wheels and they seem quite good but i only play at drifting russ use the yokomo drift tyres the same as ritchie and they seem awsome but that is probebly down to the driver and the tyre

Hay there.
I use the 13rucelee from ebay.uk Drift one piece molded wheels & Tyres. There cheap and great fun. He designed and had them made up himself. He is easy enough to find and contact. Please if you do contact him about his wheels pplease let him know Andyeve145 from ebay told you about him
I've also used the Ansmann sparking drift wheels but they dont last long.
Tamiya one are also ok. But they lack a option to nice rim's as yet.
