Title: I Want a NEW car,, what should i get guys?
Description: touring/drifter, fun racing! & bashing

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 7, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
HI GUYS

In about a month or so im hoping to get myself a NEW car, I want an electric 1/10 car for touring, drifting and street racing! it must have easy to get the spares and upgrades if i want to get them.. cheaper the better as long as its a good model and new.. B)

Unfortunately my limit would be about £100.

But there is so many models on the market, what one do i get!

After speaking to my good friend rob, im really considering getting a Tamiya TT-01, and i was thinking about this one, i must admit it looks like a good model to me and the shell is one of the best ive ever seen.

But once again even if i get a TT-01 theres a few different types, so which one would be best for me???

Or what about a HPI E10 drifter, one of the things that put me off of buying this model is ive never seen them running outdoors i only ever see them on indoor tracks.. can these have normal wheels put on and will they so outside on the tarmac and road? and will it meet my needs?

Or should i get a E10 touring, and wake on drift wheels for when i want to drift, but then again, all in all im not sure if the HPI E10's are as good as the Tamiya TT01's models?..

I got a brand new TT-01 kit if you wanna make me an offer??

Gotta pre-painted (by monty) BMW Schnitzer shell too?

Open to offers.

YZ-10 - August 7, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
TT-01 is a good kit, i've had two of them now.

But Marc don't you need to be saving for an E-Revo?

 B)

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 7, 2008 10:31 PM (GMT)
wow mate hmm, if i had the cash now i would, but im thinking a head, but if you still have it by the time im ready to buy and choose to get a TT01 i will defo give you a shout mate

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 7, 2008 10:36 PM (GMT)
thanks matt:) ive changed my mind now mate im not gonna get the E-REVO im going to get the VXL stampede for xmas instead, so i can go brushless right away..

but to get myself a nice spanking new car, im gonna sell my stampede and kyosho car.. but my plan is, if i buy a XVL stampede thats me sorted for a great electric truck and if i get a great touring/drifter thats me sorted with that, and ive got my maxx so ill be all done for now, and it will save and stop me from buying and selling model after model, lol then i can upgrade them if i want :)

Ritchie - August 8, 2008 02:43 PM (GMT)
Marc I could vouch for the TT01, but if you can find one in your budget, I'd say the TA05 is worth looking at. I've had mine for 2 years now, and still have no plans to replace it. You could race it out of the box, but mine's a full time drifter now... Being a Tamiya its easy to work on and maintain, there are loads of hop ups available, and its a bit more advanced than the TT01 and the E10...

Ritchie T - August 8, 2008 04:48 PM (GMT)
Ill sell you my Axis for £499

class nice1 tim :clap:

lol hmmm whats a better model then guys, the TT-01 E or the TA40S?

the best out the 2 i will get. :banana_jump:

minivtec - August 9, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
ta04 is a far better car marc

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 9, 2008 04:56 PM (GMT)
dam thats made my choice much harder now, i decided to get the 911 TT01 E in the end, one because the chassis is good and two because that 911 shell is the best shell ive ever seen

hmm but im like most others, if i can get a better model for a better price, ill most likely do that.. dam what to do.lol

come guys after a few more say what one should i get, ill then make my mind up,

not that much of a rush, once i have decided on what model to get, ive got to sell my models AGAIN to buy one.lol

minivtec - August 9, 2008 04:58 PM (GMT)
you could always get the porcshe shell at a later date and put it on the ta04

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 9, 2008 05:01 PM (GMT)
yeh i was thinking about that mate, but the 911 shells are around £35, but yeh depending on how cheap i get the new model for, it could work out..

so why are the ta04 better then the tt01e?

minivtec - August 9, 2008 05:07 PM (GMT)
 well they cost more for starters what you got to remember the tt01 is tamiyas base model were the ta04 is more aimed for the expirenced driver

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 9, 2008 05:14 PM (GMT)
hmm, rob will it do everything i want it to do like the tt01e would, drift rally and road race?

also one of the things i liked about the tt01 is its easy to service,, but saying that if im buying a unmade kit car anyways they will all be easy to service cos ill be making it,lol

minivtec - August 9, 2008 05:23 PM (GMT)
you should be able to use it for everthing but it is belt drive so it will be better on the smooth rarther than the rough

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 9, 2008 05:27 PM (GMT)
arh mate, cheers rob well that sorts it out for me, i dont like the belt driven 4wd, dam,lol..

911 has the edge again so far..

monty - August 9, 2008 05:58 PM (GMT)
Marc we all know i am biased towards a certain brand :D

so just for some info

the TT-01E is the re-vamped version of the TT-01 and so has these major improvements as standard:

A Parts (Uprights) are made of a polycarbonate plastic material

D Parts (Upper deck, motor cover, etc.) are made of a fiberglass-reinforced nylon material

Improved steering linkage design features TA05 steering posts for sharper steering response

New upper deck enhances chassis rigidity and mimics Tamiya's high-level race-spec machines

Upper deck also features a convenient transponder mount to further encourage fans to go to their local track and experience R/C racing

Rear suspension arms can be installed in reverse position to create shorter wheel base for greater scale accuracy

911 looks good to me OR the new golf also runs that chassis too..........

YZ-10 - August 9, 2008 06:04 PM (GMT)
yea i love the golf

russmini - August 10, 2008 09:22 AM (GMT)
Yeh, the TT-01 is a Half Decent car....

Pretty Strong and can cope with some Hottish Motors (as long as you Fit the Ali Motor Mount).

The New Revisions should make it a Lot Better in some key areas...

If all you want it for is a Bash type TC, then, Yeh, why not... There are Worse....

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 10, 2008 07:20 PM (GMT)
hi guys, well after a few days of thinking a hearing what you guys think, I have decided i will most likely be buying the TT01-E 911 GT3, as no one has said NO to buying one thats always a good sign.. B)

thanks again guys for all your comments, LOL if i change my mind or find another car and model i like ill let you all know but i defo think ill be getting the 991, and monty is gonna to the paint job for me, :banana_jump:

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 13, 2008 06:11 AM (GMT)
Morning all

Well im 100% getting the Tamiya TT-01E, 911 GT3. but not sure if im getting it from the shops or not

Thanks again for all your comments and help

as im going to be wanting a new motor mount as well as a few other bits im sure :D what one should i get. GPM or 3racing alloy ones or a Tamiya hop-ups metal one?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:MEWA:IT&ih=004

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:MEWA:IT&ih=001

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:MEWA:IT&ih=007

Im liking the 3racing type E blue alloy one, or the GPM one, they will go well with the alloy shocks ill be getting, lol

but i did notice that the 3racing has the cut out lip on the right side not the left like the GPM ones, hmmm?

Have a good day all..

minivtec - August 13, 2008 06:34 AM (GMT)
i would like to point out marc that you cant see the motor mount when it is fitted so it does not matter what colour it is. the tamiya ones do fit the best though
