Title: Feeling Ripped Off!
spuddles - August 7, 2008 08:35 PM (GMT)
Anyone ever felt like they're being ripped off when they go shooping in model shops?
I also feel a bit like I'm not welcome in some model shops when all the parts and products are kept behind the counter. Which means you can't go in to just have a browse. This is why I've turned to shopping for my parts online most of the time.
I often go to one particular model shop and get quoted one price on the phone/website and another when I'm actually there. But I've decided today that I won't be shopping there anymore. Instead I'll be going to a new one who are both online, value for money and only a mile away from my house which I have only just discovered.

I agree with all of that. and they can never compete with the choice or price of on-line solutions!!

Yes and this particular model shop claims to do price match but the excuse today was that they don't price match with the online site because they split the kits apparently. This one guy did seem a bit of a slime though.

I suppose i Mainly use On-Line RC Shops...
But also a Very Local one to me. Main reason...
They're one of the Customers where i Work (for the other part of their Business), so, i do get some Good Terms... Maybe not Price, but Stick on the Tab...
Which at the Moment is Very Good.....

And another thing... a load of model shops have sold out and become part of the chain franchise MODELZONE. For example the one in Manchester City Centre which was simply called The Model Shop is now one of them and it used to be such a brilliant shop.
Shame

well they seem to have one guy there on saturday/sunday usualy who is useless, and so are everyone else who works there apart from one guy who basically does all the repairing (as he's the only one who can) so as long as he's not busy and he's in the shop you'll be fine matt, no worries. :joker:
though i'm sure you know exactly what you want so you can just go in and buy it :D , but advisefrom them!... put it this way.....just get any before you go please!!!
