Title: Internet Explorer 7 email

obsidian - August 7, 2008 11:18 AM (GMT)
I know some of you are keen to test latest software and releases, so I thought I'd let you know of an email I received earlier advertising the latest version of IE7.

Obviously a hoax, but just a reminder to be sharp when clicking links in emails.

(speaking of which, I'm getting loads of spam from 'banks' requesting confirmation of my details... WTF?)

Here are the stats from the spamilter at the office. Keep in mind that as we're a marketing company, our email addresses are all over the place. Our spam scoring threshold is quite relaxed, as we get a lot of legit emails from forums etc.

Blocked: Bad Recipient is high because our spamfilter verifies the recipient actually exists on Active Directory.

Yup... at one stage the queue was up to 14000 emails, which in turn meant the spamfilter was processing at near 100%, and emails were delayed by about 6 hours. Needless to say the directors weren't best pleased...

But that was quickly remedied by a bit of tweaking and tinkering by yours truly, and the directors have moved on to moaning about other departments again. B)

Now on some fridays I wear this tshirt just to remind them that they should nurture and care for their IT Team, we're not all geeks. :hehe:
