Title: The best 1/8th Buggies and Truggies
Description: Which ones are the best...you decide!

spuddles - August 5, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
So for all those people out there I'd like to find out which buggies and truggies are the best available in the UK.

Discussion must be based on the following:

Strength
Reliability
Performance
Availability of hop-ups
Value for money both for the kit and the hop-ups.

It would be interesting to find out everyones opinion!? So post away!

Sorry to say, but you get nothing free in this world, least of all my valuable opinion!!!

It'll cost you an introduction in the newbie section!! ;)

Well, I'm no expert but my Hyper 7pbs has done me proud, having only suffered at the hands of a Mgen MBX 4. I'm looking to upgrade soon and reckon the MBX6 or the Kyosho MP9 is gonna get my cash.

Not yet had a truggy but the latest E-Revo is pretty impressive.

I reckon a Hyper buggy is a good all rounder, but more of a 'jack of all trades' but 'master of none'. Other makes beat ir in one aspect but maybe not in others. As for price, I reckon you get what you pay for here.

I have a hong nor x1cr which from what other people have said seems to be a good buggy. As I am new to this class I don't have anything to copare it to but from looking at pictures of other buggies it seems to made of tougher stuff.

I bought the RTR version which comes with the Force .32 engine which is very powerful but I imagine not as good as the top end engines.

In terms of performance I still need to experiment with different tyres on different surfaces. I like a bit of slide in the rear tyres in turns so I can keep the revs high whilst taking a tighter line.

In terms of value I bought the RTR for 269.99 and having priced up the cost of replacing the parts with ones that come as standard on the pro that came to 270 anyway so I might aswell buy the pro kit.

Just recently my diff cup and gear case both shredded and melted around the bevel gear and has meant the need for replacement parts both of which were aroun 5/6 quid. I wouldn't hold the breaking of this against the company I just think that was the perils of RTRs with someone else putting it together. Then again I only check the nuts on the bottom of the chassis. It has given me an excuse to upgrade the centre CVDs and install some better bearings.

I've come to the conclusion that I really like this company but I personally usually avoid well know names such as Kyosho. As I said in my intorduction in the newbie section my first car was a kyosho and it was a pitiful plastic ARTR with a rubbish engine which over heated all the time and resulted in the backplate breaking half like a biscuit. Perhaps I'll be re persuaded when I see one in action at the club I join...which ever one that will be.

x1cr is an excellent buggy, but why they put the .32 lump in is beyond me.

.28/.32 are only needed in the heavier truggy versions to be honest.

for a buggy you need a .21 engine.

best all round buggy has to be the hyper, great for bashing and starting racing, good spares availability

hardcore racers well to name a few... losi 8ight, mugen mbx5r, associated rc8.

mugen get my vote for quality of components and mouldings, plus the sheer strength and reliability of the cars.

new cars to look out for... mugen mbx6, kyosho mp9, serpent s600

top 5 cars in my opinion...

associated rc8
mugen mbx5r
losi 8ight
x1cr pro
kyosho mp777

We've discussed this not that long ago on here....

Yeh, the X1CR is a Good Buggy. Again like Matt, i Cannot understand why they put such a Big Engine in them....

In Racing you can Only use .21, so build it with that and be done with it !!!!!!

Yes, i know, People want More Speed and it Is Cheaper to put a Bigger Engine in to get that, as opposed to a Better Engine.....

Top Buggy's...

There's Too Many !!!!

RC8 (As if i was going to say something else !!)

Losi 8ight

Xray 808

X2 CR (Sometime Soon)

Mugen MBX5/6

Kyosho MP......

HoBao Hyper.......

Well, there the Top ones i would say, probably Missed one or two from that.

If you want a Good, Strong, Quick Buggy... You Really are Spoilt, They're All Good !!!!

very nice they are too

they put the bigger engine on the rtr to appeal to the basher but it makes it impossible to enter BRCA events. It doesn't make it any faster than any buggy I've seen it just makes it more powerful ie it could pull heavy weights at high speed but not any faster lots of torque but no more revs.

I like the look of the RC8 bit expensive though. Suppose all the good ones are in the long run.

Mugen,Hobao,Xray have the build quality over the other makes!

He's only just Started Racing and getting into the 'Sport' Bless Him....

He'll Learn....

Think i can Easily Guess which ones missing for You...

I Seriously think in the last 2, but probably More Years the Only Buggy that Hasn't been Good Enough for the Average Club Racer to Use and Abuse while Attempting to Race has been the......

Team Magic M1B.

This was Actually a Really Good Car, Unfortunatly it just Wasn't Strong Enough.

Talking of which Sir, have you seen the New TM yet, not sure when thats supposed to be out. But it's supposed to Addressed All the Build/Material Issues....
