Title: Hyper ST pro, my first run
Description: Servo problems
Hornedreaper33 - May 27, 2008 09:43 PM (GMT)
Evening guys,
Just took my Hyper ST out for a run for the first time tonight. When it started it would cut out when I applied the throttle so a few adjustments and it was working fine. Then it spluttered at random times as it accelerated but again a few adjustments and it was fine. I assumed it was running too rich... if I'm wrong please let me know.
Anyway took it over the local BMX track and learned the ropes as far as jumping was concerned, ha-ha had some fun. The car did a couple of cart wheels though and on one occasion used the wing to bring itself to a slow and steady stop but only aesthetic damage. Anyway...
After a while the throttle wasn't doing anything and on closer inspection the servo wasn't moving. At first it was applying the brake but not opening the carb but now it seems to have stopped functioning all together. It does do the usual twitch in both directions when you power up but after that nothing.
The car did get wet but nothing serious. Any ideas? I have tried to warm it up to dry it off, tried another receiver as well so it is definitely the servo.
Cheers in advance guys.

charged the battery up? failsafe.. the voltage cut-off might have come in?
also mate is that the model technics fuel u said u bought as that would of caused the erratic running and need for tuning.

I haven't you know... :s did you charge it up?
Matt - May 27, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)

OK dude ill give it a charge up. Give the servo another warm just incase it does have water in it and see how it fares in the morning. It was so nice and clean and now its a mess again... haha.
You'll never guess what, my mate came all the way over from dudley to come mess about on the BMX track with his new REVO and forgot the starter... DOH! So I made him watch me haha
Any idea how long that reciever pack will last, its 1600mAh I think?
Matt - May 27, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
 u should of gave him the camera to film you as well
yep its the 1600 mate, charged up should last a days bashing mate, i never had a problem with it going flat on me, just needs a nice charge
post here tomorrow let us know B)

Could still be the Battery.
I find that i have Problems in my RC8 even if i think it's ok Battery wise.
A quick Full Charge on the Charger and all is fine.

Ok so I got home and I put the Hyper on charge. Mader sure it had charged up by turning the charger off and back on and the green light stayed on. So I turned it on and it worked in both directions. Took it outside to run the fuel out of the engine and it stoped working in the throttle direction. Ok, sorted the engine out without it and took it back into the house. Now it was working in the throttle direction but not the brake direction. Took the GF home and tried it again not it started working and then slowly faded away to absolutly nothingness.
Any ideas? Is it possible that the inside is a bit damp and when I use it is moves the damp about and messes things up?
AAGH!

Not too sure mate.
There's soo many Variables.
I'll ask Again though...
Where abouts are you ??
I don't think your too far from a couple of Well Seasoned Members on here.
That being the case... Maybe they could Help You...

I am in Wolves, WV11 2PH. Servo is sorted though now. Took the back off it last night and it was a bit damp. warmed it up and left it open all day and its fine now.
Had another run today, man they attract attention. Especials kids who always ask "can I have a go", you can imagine my responce.
Got a few more questions guys if you don't mind, sorry about the frequency of the questions but I am still new to this. First question is it normal for the diffs to get warm enough to warm the chassis up underneath them?
Secondly the engine is kicking out a nice amount of smoke and reving nicely but when I let off, the revs aren't enough to drive the clutch but still stay quite high for a while, am I running it too lean. TBH I think I could do with having a bash with you guys maybe pick up a few pointers about tuning the engines.

Thought you were in that area. In the Middle of Me and Luke (Jedi Master).
Chassis under Diff's... Yeh, Don't worry too much about that mate. As long as there's No Nasty Noises, your Fine.
If the Engine Rises when you let Off Throttle, your a bit Lean on Bottom End. Just Richen it up a tad. An Eighth (5 Minutes) at a time. Always doing about 3 WOT Runs in between Each Re-Tune. And Never letting the Tank go Below Half Full.
Yeh, you'll have to meet up with us and have a Good Time.
And, Yes, They Always Attract Attention !!!!!!

Hornedreaper33 - May 30, 2008 01:47 PM (GMT)
I am well keen for that!
Just had another run, they cut the grass on the field it was like a green wall moving at speed over the field haha.
Got it running nicely but after about 10 mins it started to not pick up on the run back towards me, maybe getting hot?
Matt - May 30, 2008 02:34 PM (GMT)
might be worth investing in a temp gun? always handy
Hornedreaper33 - June 1, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
Ok so took it out again tonight, hit a jump that didn't look too large... that opinion rapidly changed. Landed nicely and all is well though.
Only problem is I have yet more questions. The brake was stalling the engine at low speed, yet I changed absolutly nothing since I last used it and the carb isn't shutting.
I bought 8 AA rechargable batteries, 1.2V 2800mAh NiMH and after I charged them fully they wont run my transmitter?!
Just before I called it a day, it was spluttering and not pulling away very smoothly, and no matter how much I leaned the LSN it still wouldn't stop doing it. I did have a crash with my mates Revo and the rubber gasket on the exit of the engine for the exhaust has split. Might that be messing it up?
Cheers in advance guys!

First off, Your Battery Problem...
You've got 1 in the Wrong Way Round !!!!!!!!!!!
Trust Me, I did it a few wekks ago. I even Charged it up Twice and wondered why it was Peaking, then only registering 9.2V on the Tranny, i got Sooo Fucked Off !!!!!
In the end after Looking and Looking and Looking i realised one was the Wrong Way !!!!!
It Looked Right in All my Previous Glances, But Wasn't...
Check and Double Check....

Could be the Gasket mate. It'll just be Screwing up the Mixture, Back Pressure etc etc. Change it, then try again.
