Title: Newbie with a few questions
Description: Revo???

Hornedreaper33 - May 18, 2008 12:30 PM (GMT)
Afternoon guys,

My name is Chris and I have always wanted an R/C car :P I am hopefully going to be looking into buying one in the next couple of months but I have a few questions if you guys wouldn't mind giving me some answers.

1) I am a fan of the truggies, they seem to have all the advantages of the trucks and the buggies. I have been looking through the forums because I have heard mixed reviews about the Revo 3.3. I know its more of a Truck but is it as good as its meant to be? I have come across the HoBao Hyper ST and gotta tell you that thing looks ace! Which leads me onto my next questions...

2) Is there any advantage to having a 1/10th over a 1/8th or visa versa?

3) Are gears such a big deal?

4) Whats the actual definition of Bashing lol?

I will mainly be looking to just prat about with whatever I end up buying but I wouldn't mind looking into the racing, oh and it would have to be nitro powered.

Cheers in advance chaps... now back to the uni work :(

Hyper ST is a great truggy!!!
smaller clutch bells = more acceleration
bigger clutch bells = More topend
Bashing = Freestyle pretty much!! jumping, backflips or just cruising about!! No rules!
1/8th nitro cars are way fun!!!

Revo is deffo a jumping and bashing machine, if you wanted to race as well, then the hyper st would be the way forward....look in the for sale section!

Truggy = Awesome Fun, Very Strong. Race Designed, but an Awesome Bashing Tool.

Revo = Monster Truck. Actually just as big as 1/8th Truggies even though Traxxas say it's 1/10th... Awesome Fun, Strong. Fun Designed, Can be Raced, but No Competition against Truggies...

Look at my Sig and you'll see what I Own... ;)

Have a look at the Various Threads on here. I have Raced my Revo, but Purely to have a Laugh. Although it did surprise me how Good it was and how Good it Could've Been... But would be No Good if you Had to Race against Truggies All the time.

All comes down to Personal Preference at the end of the day....

Welcome to the forum dude. I got a buggy and a monster truck, but if you're a beginner then a truggy would be perfect.

Matt has a ST pro for sale. (he's part of the admin team on here)

You won't get a pro for a better price. May be worth a look?

Hi Chris, welcome to the site mate. im sure your find this place very friendly and helpful..

I must say good questions there bud.

Yeh truggys, like the hyper ST are a great models, they do everything well and will handle great on all types of ground, all in all they are a great all-round basher or racer. The Revo 3.3 is also a great model, ask anyone on here and they say im a traxxas freak, but its true  i think all traxxas models are great, and the revo 3.3 is one of them, the only kinda bad thing i can say about the Revo 3.3 is the engine ive been told by quite a few people are and can be a pain in the bum to tune and keep tuned, Revo's are a great monster trucks they go off-road great and also as russ said handle well and hold their own on a track..

Ive got a Traxxas T-MAXX 2.5 monster truck and i must say its a great model, i use mine for hard bashing, doing jumps, flips and all-round off-roading.

As russ also said the Revo 3.3 is classed as a 1/10 like the T-MAXX but they could easy be 1/8.lol comon traxxas  i would not really say there are advantages or not, i guess that depends on what model you get!.

As for gears, im not the best guy to answer that one but, if you want more top speed most 2 speed nitro models will be faster topend then a single speed model, but this is not always the case. One great thing about 2 speed models though mate, they sound dam class when they shift gear B)

Glorykid hit the definition of bashing on the head with what he said, yeh bashing is just freestyle, doing whatever you please

lol definition of hard bashing, off-roading, jumping and flipping bigger and faster each time untill you usually break something.

Personally mate, if you want a great all-round basher/racer i would go for the hyper ST, as some have allready said, matt is saling one at the moment, you wont find one for a better price then that, thats in the same condition, inside and out..

Once again welcome to the site and i hope we have been of some help to you. look forward to hearing what you decide..
