Title: What tyres for Thunder Tiger EB4 Pro?

Digicol - May 14, 2008 08:06 AM (GMT)
Hi guys.

I am an extreme noob to the RC scene. My mate bought a Thunder Tiger last week and has worn the tyres down already after only 2 outings, maybe 2 hours run time in total. It has got an after market engine in I think, not sure if it's 2.1 or 2.4, can anyone tell me what engine this model normally comes with?

Anyway yesterday he went out and piad £300 for a Revo 3.3 with loads of kit and he is now selling the Thunder Tiger to me for £100, again with everything ready to run. ;)

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get some good quality hard wearing tyres for dirt, medium/hard ground?

Also the suspension seems a little soft, i.e. when you push it down it does not bounce back up. Is it supposed to be like this or is it meant to be a little stiffer?

Cheers for any advice guys.

Oh and anyone know of any meetings or clubs in the County Durham area?

hmmm depends what you wanna do with it

Yeh, all really depends what type of Ground. Will you use in on Tarmac ??

If so.. Pointless getting some nice Tyres, cause you'll just Kill them.

I have quite a few different sets For Sale if your interested, all a Lot Cheaper than Brand New, and some with little wear.

Oh and it'll be a .21 Engine

Off road on gravel and firm soil mainly.

Also been offered a 2.8cc ThunderTiger engine for £50. Is it worth it and will there be much difference over the 2.1cc?

Also just came back from my mates, we were gonna take his Revo out but the starter was flat, lol.

We also found out it has an RB23 engine fitted instead of the original 3.3, according to him these are much better. Can't wait to take them out tomorrow.

I feel like a kid, I am nearly 35, lol.

Just to Re-Iterate...

It's Not 2.1cc or 2.8cc. It's .21 or .28

And it'll either be a 323 or 523 RB Engine. Not a 23...

Ah right, still learning mate, both of us.

Do you think it would be worth buying the .28 engine for the Thunder Tiger? It is from a mate (the same guy who sold my other mate the Revo) and he said it has only had 6 tanks through it. For £50 will it be worth upgrading from the .21 that came with the car?

Cheers.

Also I don't get paid till the end of the month, and I have already stretched this months budget a little too far. So if you still have some tyres kicking about and they are fine for gravel then I will take some off your hands mate.

How much would you be looking for a set of 4 or maybe even 8 if you have that many?

russmini - May 15, 2008 06:21 AM (GMT)
In a Buggy, a .28 isn't really Nescessary...

After all a .21 is all your Allowed to Race with, and trust me (and you can ask others) It's quick enough, especially if Tuned Correctly.

You'll also get More Run Time with a .21, always a Good Thing.

I'll have Tyres mate, i'll sort you some Pics out so you can choose which ones you want.

I agree with Russ

Cheers mate.

Yeah I found out last night what you mean about being setup right.

The other lad came down who sold the Revo and he knows loads about them.

We fired up the Thunder Tiger and immediately he took it off us and altered the flow of fuel.

Flipping heck, the thing took off, I thought it was fast before, now it is amazing.

Still have not got to see the Revo in action.

My mate finally got it going last night after he charged the starter. He phoned me and said, "Hey you think the Thunder Tiger was fast? You ain't seen nothing yet!"

So I am off down at 6 tonight to have a blast over the fields with them.

Ah well, never got to see the much of the Revo as 10 minutes in he stripped his spur cog.

He was going to change it there and then but he could not get into the screws to remove the engine as has a different engine mount on, so have to wait for our other mate to come round today and get it sorted.

Enjoyed the thunder tiger though, it stuck to the ground like glue. We were running on short sandy soil type grass with a few 1-2 foot high bumps in places.

At first the Revo could not stay upright the thing started bouncing around like a powerball, will take him time to get used to driving these things, whereas the Thunder Tiger seemed to handle the same ground much more stable.

And yeah, no way could I put a .28 engine in there, would be just silly, I have trouble steering the thing as it is!! (But then again I may offer him £35 at the end of the month when I get paid as he is on his ass at the moment and needs cash, hence him selling his Revo setup, it could come in handy as a spare at that price.)

Think I could really get into this hobby.
