Melbourne might lose its Australian Grand Prix as it is not willing to host the race at night, in order to get more viewers in Europe watching the race. The government in the Sydney area now though has said it could host the Australian race at night at Eastern Creek.

The government of New South Wales believes it could light a Formual 1 race in Sydney if that's what it takes to keep Formula One coming to Australia. NSW Premier Morris Lemma has suggested the race could be held at Eastern Creek, the track that also plays host to the A1GP series.

"If the race is available at some stage we'd certainly be interested," Mr Iemma told Australian newspaper the Herald Sun. "It's not a blank cheque, but it could be held at a place like Eastern Creek, obviously with modifications. If Formula One is looking for a night race then Eastern Creek could be converted to suit them."

The organizers of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne have a contract with Bernie Ecclestone that allows them to keep the race until 2010.

there is no way in hell Eastern Creek can host a F1GP the track can bearly host a A1GP, the track is crap with only 2 decent corners also the fercilities are s**thouse too.... not to mension lack of grandstands to rake in more money for Bernie

anyway.... Bernie only wants a night race so the race can start at 1AM Aus time so it can b shown LIVE at 7:30-8:30PM in Europe.....

and thats the buttom line... CAUSE BERNIE SAID SO!!!
