i didnt run the hpi yet but nosram says that rs.28 monster evo has 3.89 bhp (8 port)

Matt - March 10, 2008 07:06 PM (GMT)
yes the nosram is a very good engine indeed, the hpi's is still good though, wheelies on command

Kris - March 10, 2008 11:08 PM (GMT)
What about the body mate ? :D

seany5060 - March 11, 2008 05:02 PM (GMT)
dad said i can't get it started till weekend (probably because i'm meant to be diong GCSE coursework at the moment)
but for the shell i thought that i might go with the blue one on the hpi racing website.

the question is what colours do i actually need for it (i.e. which colour blue exactly), i have a small amount of black and white left over but exactly which colours do i need? somone must surely know the colours HPI use

Ross'i - March 11, 2008 05:25 PM (GMT)
Not sure i this helps but below is a link to all the tamiya paints on BMM's site there's 3 pages worth so you might see something like the colour HPI have on their site.
These paints are ok to use with nitro trucks and cars too

Tamaya paints

maybe ask monty for advice on paintwork

seany5060 - March 11, 2008 05:51 PM (GMT)
looked at the link from rossi and i reckon it may either be the mettalic blue on the first page or the translucent blue on the second page.
monty if you know what colours i need to get my sheel like they have on the hpi website please tell
if no-one knows which blue, i did think of paining it with the orange paint scheme that appears only before you actually click on the savage x ss icon in the off road nitro section on the hpi website.i just don't know which one would look better. does anyone know what colour this is. By the way modelsport do seem to do a lot of colours, but is pactra a good make. all i have used bafore is fastrax.

Matt - March 11, 2008 06:11 PM (GMT)
i have only used pactra paints, but my painting skills are very limited and i normally make a hash job it, monty will hopefully be able to do all mine from now on

seany5060 - March 15, 2008 05:39 PM (GMT)
wooo got the first tank through it today :D before it started raining, was a bugger to start but fine when it was going. Might have ago with it on the ground tomorrow if its dry enough.
Oh and as i was mounting biking with a friend (who has a firestorm and reckons it'll beat my savage, no-chance!) we found a great BMX track which would be great for a bash in the summer if anyone is interested. if you want to know where it is (and you probably will) its in Aylburton, near Lyndney. found it on google earth but don't know how i would show this on the froum

seany5060 - March 15, 2008 08:23 PM (GMT)
nearly ready to paint bodyshell now. My first go at painting one with more than one colour (this one has three) so just checking that i should paint from darkest to lightest. e.g paint the black then the silver then orange. (i think i should do the silver before the orange as it is next to the black areas). is this ok?

seany5060 - March 20, 2008 08:11 PM (GMT)
hey got enough money for a skid plate now, will buy off ebay as it's the cheapest (i think), just i was wondering if this one click here would fit my x ss as some don't fit certain models or some don't fit savages with the dual brakes. Please reply asap as this skid plate will sell and i'll end up asking this same question again, just about another skid plate.

Jedi Master - March 20, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
Nice build dude, look forward to seeing the finished article!!!

seany5060 - March 20, 2008 08:18 PM (GMT)
cheers, when i've finished running it in (this weekend weather permitting) i will bring to a bash, one thats near me that is.
oh and i will also look at a potential bash site near me for the summer this weekend as well, a local off road BMX park, bit muddy now but would be great if it's dry.

seany5060 - April 23, 2008 05:57 PM (GMT)
got it back from modelsport today after them having a look at it/fixing it/tuning it, so will get it out tomorrow hopefully as i forgot to charge the glow starter battery.

seany5060 - April 24, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
wow!!! got it started today after modelsport tuning it and it really is a beast!!!

flipped it twice already though, once on acceleration and once on cornering, though i'll change the cornering sharpness on the transmitter.

oh and when is the next bash nearish the forest of dean? As i would love to come as at the moment i only know one other person with a nitro car (a hpi firestorm).

alans_savage - April 24, 2008 07:20 PM (GMT)
i will be organising another locally soon where in the forest you from??

seany5060 - April 24, 2008 07:24 PM (GMT)
