Title: savage probs
larwoo - March 9, 2008 05:19 PM (GMT)
right playing with my savage yesterday and all of a sudden i realised that i had no drive to the front wheels.
all the shafts are ok and i havn't lost any of the grub screws and i can still spin the wheels but they are not engaging the drive shaft.
think the front diff is fucked possibly.
has anyone ever had a prob like this before or does anyone know what it could be?
thanks
Andy

front diff or centre gearbox problem by the sounds

well f you can spin the front wheels the same direction should the driveshaft start to move as well because at teh mo thats not happening.

yes it should, looks like you have a problem with the diff there

gears on diff are probably wasted, make sure you replace gears to metal ones if there were plasic ones :)

 this is now sorted guys.
it wasn't the front diff at all.
it has upgraded drive shafts and wheel hubs fitted to the savage.
but one of the shafts had snapped its retaining pin.
therefor i had no drive to the front wheels.
didn't have any pins that would fit so found an old bent servo arm and cut it to the right size
now it absolutly fine!!
thanks for listening and for your advice. :cruising:

nice to know it was nothing too serious, maybe we can have a savage on savage race at a bash sometime (when its dry)
