Title: Explain motor Winds!
Description: (need help please)

Guys, can someone please explain about motor winds?

I know that as the number of 'turns' decreases, the motor is faster! but was does a 11 x 2 do differently to an 11 x 3 for example. and how do you know what is meant for on-road or off-road use?

Its all a bit confusing, but ironic that I know about brushless and Lipo's like they are bread and butter!!! :joker:

I'm hoping to start racing my DF-03 (Super Bling!! :bling: ) and I've put a Tamiya Special Tuned 11T motor in it, but some guy on Tamiyaclub (who races a DF-03) says I'll need a 10 x 2 at least!!! WTF does that mean?????

Help appreciated!!

i've got 1001 pages open at the minute and msn lol this needs a longish reply i'll try catch you on msn now

to explain briefly...

10x1 is very punchy and fast

10x4 smoother and still gives similar speed

The higher the number the slower the motor generally some cheaper motors are slower than more exspensive ones as is the same with most things.

As for the second number that is to do with torque the higher the number the higher the torque so for example a 10x1 will be faster than a 19x1. And a 19x1 has less torque than a 19x4. The first number is the amount of times the wire is rapped around the shaft though the middle and the second number is the number of wires rapped around.

Hope this helps mate,

Chris

completely wrong
a 12x1 is the high torque motor a 12x4 is low torque
the second number is the torque or puncheness (is that a real word)
