Can't see any dates in the posts above, and the last one stating 'this weekend' was on the 6th of March...?
RacingJonny - March 10, 2008 07:55 PM (GMT)
Hi guys, Mk2kompressor missed the crucial date out at the beginning of this thread I believe!
This month we're meeting on 30th March.
We meet once a month, the dates are schuduled as follows:
30th March
20th April
18th May
22nd June
27th July
We are likely to hold 2 a month sometimes as we did this month, these will be announced as and when we book a 2nd session.
@ Matt, I hear you on the distance, we travelled every month from Essex to Staffordshire to race, 178 miles each way! And I can tell you it was worth the trip ;)
Any more info, let me know.
Jonny

Great stuff guys, we'll have two cars prepared for you! You'll be able to check out all the chassis and hop up options in the Mini Z scene and we'll be able to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to contact myself or mk2kompressor in the meantime for more info or just a chat. I'm sure you'll love racing this scale.
We'll be setting up the HFAY (www.howfastareyou.com) competition track first off to record some laps and then we'll setup a large track with the new S Curve Sweeper section that I've just purchased :D

obsidian - March 29, 2008 11:03 AM (GMT)
As it's just a few miles from home, I'll be bringing the mrs and little Alex along as well.
If they get bored I can always take them home and return.
They have been warned though, I'm not taking them home half an hour later!
What's the youngest age for participating? Will Alex be able to have a go? He's about 4 months now...
:joker:
(he'll just drool all over it and stick the car in his mouth....)
mk2kompressor - March 29, 2008 12:13 PM (GMT)
my boy does the same thing,14months but he's getting there :joker:
obsidian - March 29, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
Been having a look around the Kyosho website, and from the looks of things they're all 27mhz? Does that not limit the number of racers to 6 for each heat?
Also, does any 27mhz tranny work? Reason for asking is that I'm a stick user, and if this gets serious, I'd like to use a stick radio for racing.
Do they run on 40Mhz at all?
See you tomorrow!
Ross'i - March 29, 2008 10:39 PM (GMT)
I was thinking somthing simorlor id like to use my dx3r if it gets serious but not sure weather the reciver will fit
RacingJonny - March 29, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
Sorry guys, been working all afternoon and just got in - in reply to your questions:
@Obsidian - yes the standard cars are 27mhz AM but they have just released a 2.4ghz version (I have one for you to see tomorrow). You can use any 27mhz AM TX including sticks, so you are good to go there. Officially that does mean 6 frequencies but if you reverse the crystals, that gives us 12 and also we have some extra frequencies so we'll be OK even if we all race at the same time :D
@ Ross'i - I don't think you'd easily be able to put other electronics in the Z but we're stocking a very nice chassis which you'll be able to see tomorrow and you can use any elecs you like, aswell as servo.
I'm sure you guys will love these things :D
See you tomorrow,
Jonny
EDIT - I'm just PM'ing you guys my mobile number just in case.

Ello,
It was fun thanks mate was interesting to race a new scale for the first time.
I found that you have to be alot more precise with these than with other scales ive played with wich is somthing i will defo have to work on alot :joker:
Thanks for having me there on sunday guys i havent had much luck looking for cars ive been relly busy and all i could find were i series when i have looked. Plus all my money is going in to my new 1:10 M racer im bulding but fingures crossed it wont be long

Took a moment to get back into racing on a circuit similar to 1/10th, but I think I did ok. Didn't break anything, as far as I'm aware...?
About the sticks, I'm wondering if I'll have the accuracy required as with the wheel. Certainly from a throttle perspective it's easier to be subtle with a trigger than a stick, so I'm keen to try sticks and to compare.
I know that in rallyx I can be quite ruthless with the controls and the buggy will still make it round the corner, so hamfisted wrenching can still get me there. Onroad requires more accuracy and finesse, so kudos to you chaps for making it look easy.
After I've repaired the hyper from last week's bash up in MK, I may just be tempted to get a miniz, or even a 1/10th scale racer.
The carpet/foam that you race on, surely you'd be able to get that for larger circuits as well? Saves having to mess around with rolls of carpet in school halls. If you'd be able to get larger squares, you may even be able to lower the number of tiles needed, and the foam edge all the way around would certainly help to limit the damage incurred!
When's the next meet?
mk2kompressor - March 31, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
dont worry we've got plenty of cars to lend out :joker:
i always do a worldwide search for z's plenty in the usa B)
you didnt break anything :D
i havent seen any foam with the same texture, anti fatigue mats work well but it gets expensive, the smaller tracks we started with cost around £350 each.
next meet is on the 20th,probably be more pizza and brownies too
