R/C fans have long been modifying their machines into rock crawlers. Tamiya has followed this growing segment with interest and we are now proud to present to you the fruits of our research. This new crawler features a true-to-scale Toyota Land Cruiser 40 body made from lightweight polycarbonate mounted on an all-new CR-01 chassis and is literally ready to rock.

Planetary gearbox comes with20T pinion gear for a 40.5:1 gear ratio. Separately available 16T-25T pinion gears can be installed for gear ratios ranging from50.6:1 to 32.4:1. Kit also includes 540 type motor while 2-channel R/C system, ESC, and7.2V battery & charger are separately required

CR-01 dedicated crawler chassis features heavy-duty ladder frame with strong yet lightweight pressed aluminum channels and resin cross members. The space saved by mounting a compact planetary gearbox enables the battery to be located lower on the chassis for optimum center of gravity.

4-link coil spring suspension provides the flexibility needed to conquer difficult rocky terrain. Inboard dampers are connected to suspension via linkages, which are then connected via stabilizer torsion bar to provide sure-footed balance.

Now thats a proper mans truck!!!

If I was going to get a crawler I think this would win my vote, as it has the scale looks to go with the performance!!

(I'm only a beginner, and tis looks like an ideal truck for someone new to crawling)

Ah I've so gotta get me one of those B)

If you are thinking about starting crawling there is one HUGE consideration to take into account before buying a crawler.... Make sure you have somewhere to crawl! It gets boring driving up and down the kerbstone 400 times a pack ;)
I've given up trying to crawl in my area, there just is not the landscape for it. Now trailing through the woods and plugging in mud I have in abundance :D It's simliar to crawling but requires more cleaning afterwards :D

i am so nearly buying one of these the only problem is the price at £250 its £50 more than the axial and that is more of a crawler ;)

but saying that its a tamiya and i love them will have to keep an eye out on the bay for a import one at the right price i think :D

Got mine late lastweek, built it while off from work and took it out for the first runs this weekend. Bloomin marvelous piece of kit, almost unstopable with a 55 turn lathe motor!

Excuse the naff paint job, it was 3AM and I was in a rush (the white bled into the yellow) :(.
I'll post some more pictures later with all the decals and mirrors etc added as it really brings the shell to life.

I got mine from Models in Motion but you can of course get it cheaper from the HK dealers. I didn't want to wait for the shipping though :)

I also have a 350 and the crawler outperforms that in stock format it has much better stock ground clearance
And soon to come is the Re issue Pajero hardbody
I've got the Tamiya bug bad :P
