Title: NEW - Factory Team Aluminium RC8 parts
Matt - January 24, 2008 01:57 AM (GMT)

Associated have released 2 new aluminium parts for their popular RC8 1/8th scale buggy. First up is the Factory Team aluminium top plate which is designed for maximum stiffness and strength with minimal weight, while the new Factory Team aluminium steering rack increases crash resistance and improves precision in the steering system. Both parts have been CNC machined, hard-anodised and are scratch resistant and will be available in February.

Are these here because Team Associated are admitting that their buggy might be slightly weak?

not sure mate, maybe russ can answer as he got one

Nope...
They have addressed an Original manufaturing problem by giving us 1st Batch RC8 Owners a Free Service Pack.
There were a couple of issues with Hardness of Components.
The only reason these are out is because most Racers want Alumnium. Trust me, the Carbon Fibre is Stronger, Lighter and Sexier in my opinion.

I doubt the carbon fibre is stronger than alloy but it might be strong enough.
Words like "increases crash resistance". just leads me to think maybe their team members have been having problems.

Yep, sorry, but it Is Stronger than Ali.
It is also 4mm Thick, whereas the Ali is 5mm Thick and at least with CF, it doesn't Bend. There is a certain amount of Give.
I certainly wont leave my CF bits behind just to go and buy Ali bits. there Not worth it.

You see that doesn't really make sense.
Bringing out alloy parts that are weaker. Na, i don't buy it.

Associated have released 2 new aluminium parts
carbon is stronger and lighter than aluminium which is why its used in formula ones but there is some advantages such as carbon is more flexible which isnt what u want in certain places but it wont snap as easy as alli mate

Oi! It's ALLOY!
Not ally, ali, alley, ali, allah, or anything else!
<sigh>

Think carbon fibre is used in planes and F1 cars mainly because of it's strength to weight ratio.
Still doesn't make sense to bring out parts weaker than the stock ones. So it must be slightly stronger surely.
After all they don't make tanks out of carbon fibre. :machine_gun: :bazooka: :machine_gun2: :matrix: :mafia:

Yeah that sounds totally right for the steering bar bit. But not many models need an aluminium top plate.
