Hi guy Good Morning!

Yep i know the tittle sounds silly but your understand why i asked soon.lol

Last night i started to spray my RC18T shell, did the windows all was going good, then i masked off some racing stripes then masked the rest of the truck, after i finshed spraying the stripe designs i noticed some of the black paint from the stripes run under the masking tape onto the clear body, i looked at all the stripes and saw its done that running along most lines of the masking tape. lol i was not happy but it was'nt that bad, im just fussy, so i continued spraying..
Its nearly done now all ive got to do is spray the main silver colour and then do a backing white.. looks good shame about the runs :D

Right guys this is where i need your advice, as i dont want this to happen when spraying the next little fella or my T-MAXX shell i was wondering whats the best masking tape to use???
LOL wow it sounds like ive never painted a shell before, well ive painted loads but i must admit ive had had this trouble before but this shell was the smallest by far,lol all good fun though :D

Anyway this was the masking tape used, its a good one but i guess not good enough.

I thought about trying the Tamiya masking tape but then i saw this stuff ive never seen it before but it sounds great if it works and if its as easy as it sounds, hmmm
check this out,

Has anyone ever used this before or has seen it and knows what its like???
I was thinking about trying it if its any good, or whats the best tape to use?
Any help i would be very greatfull

the ONLY masing tape i ever use is the tamiya stuff.

but you can get seeps/runs using even that, if your coats are too heavy you need to do a super light first couple of coats which will seal the edges of the tape.

by far the best results are always always acheived by giving yourself 2 days to paint one shell using 9 or 10 light coats and leaving approx 1-2hours between coats its so so so so hard not to press abit harder and coat a bit thicker but the results really are worth resisting the urge :)

you can get pretty good results with the liquid mask BUT be warned it takes ALOT of practise to use it properly 2 bits of advice you need if using it are paint it on thick and use a brand new super sharp blade to trim it with dont push too hard though or you will go through the shell!! eeeekk!!

to make life easier just use Tamiya yellow masking tape i say

hello monty thanks once again for your advice mate,

Yeh your right its always best to do the coats as thin as possible, i must admit though i only did 5 coats for each colour and because fastrax paint is super fast drying i only wait 30 minutes between coats, ill wait longer next time and try to do more thinner coats. Its quite tricky spraying the rc18t shells, well its tricky spray designs on them anyway.lol as they are small..

I think ill get some tamiya yellow tape mate like you said, but ill think ill give that liquid stuff a try aswell.

Thanks again for your advice mate  this rc18t shell im doing will be done tommorrow so ill post up a picture..

HAPPY RC-ING..
