reason mustang is it moving forward with the times but no hoff ........... bet thats dented his ego big time would of been better using all the old actors but just modern motors
STR33TRAC3R - January 11, 2008 01:42 PM (GMT)
Car's not really moving forward though.
KITT was a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am,
Arguablly one of the best known and recognised cars. used in a shed load of films.
It should be noted that the Pontiac Trans Am is the longest running performance name in American history.
No offence but the Mustang is crap and one of the worst cars ever said by topgear.
It's like the BMW Minis in the new Italian job, their crap compared to the old mini's.

Dam i got excited then, lol, i used to love the old knight rider series
Now the new knight rider's KITT is kind of KITT, yeh its not a Pontiac like the first 2 knight rider car's (K.A.R.R and K.I.T.T) but as KITT stands for knight industries two thousand, they could even have a ford kar and call it KITT if they like :joker:
but i think they made the right choice choosing the mustang
i think its one of the best cars around B)
When its out ill be watching it.lol :D
STR33TRAC3R - January 11, 2008 07:49 PM (GMT)
The Mustang has a live axle rear suspension making it about as sophisticated as a childs toy.
Mass produced American junk that Mustang IMO.
In 1970's the Trans Am SD-455 was about. It produced 540hp. Makes the Modern Mustang look weak.
Seeing how keen Americans are on old cars i'm very suprised they choose a modern Mustang.

STR33TRAC3R - January 11, 2008 08:00 PM (GMT)
The 1965 Mustang that was in the film Bulit was a nice car.

The one in the photo is crappy American automatic. I don't think it carrys the same kind of enjoyment personaly.
I seem to think the one in the film was a manual.
Did the one in "Gone in 60 seconds" have 5 on the floor?

the car is a 1967 shelby gt500 but it was a replica in the shakira video the car in the new knight rider film is a 2008 gt500kr with a dohc 32 valve v8 producing 550bhp
the mustang used in the film bullit was a modified 1968 gt-390 fastback mustang
swiftpro17 - January 12, 2008 06:32 AM (GMT)
the mustang in gone in 60 was a 67 fast back origonaly but was modified drasticly for the film a company in the states actually made replica cars for public sale :geek: :geek: :geek: :joker:

Yeah. I seem to remeber a shot of a gear lever though. 5 speed manual.
Did they make a shelby gt500 with a 5 speed manual, or was the shot of a 5 speed gear lever just to make the film more exciting.
Or do you not know and not care?
Anyone know? It's just i could swear in the film there was a screen shot of him changing gears on a stick.

Are you sure about that?
550hp sounds a bit neat.
For example this Shelby Mustang GT500. Is actually only 440hp from new.
Or is that 550hp fictional. The same way the Trans am Knight rider did 300mph? LMAO
Proves that Carrol Shelbys tunning is totally usless and the badge is utter crap IMO.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MneTKjKHG0Q&feature=relatedWould of been good if they used the SSC Aero as knight rider. That would be utterly cool and i would defo go to watch the film!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSC_Aero
Matt - January 12, 2008 12:24 PM (GMT)
yeah saw some pics of ssc other day looks smart
dunno just not keen on the new mustang even the new trans am would have been better...
Jedi Master - January 12, 2008 12:42 PM (GMT)
That would have been a better choice for sure!!!!
Haven't seen that before, and now that I have, I can't understand why they didn't use it in the first place! :jump:
swiftpro17 - January 12, 2008 01:50 PM (GMT)
the supersnake replica runs a whoping 755bhp ..........given its with nitrous.....wich they do use in the film :P
Jono - January 12, 2008 08:43 PM (GMT)
a 67 gt500 is 4 speed manual look below

the car in knight rider is definetly a gt500kr with 550hp read the link below for more specs.
Mustang gt500Matt the pic with the new pontiac got burt reynolds in the background i wonder if this hinting another smokey and the bandit film....

Thanks Jono.
Thought it was a manual.
I supose 4 on the floor in America is exotic.
What cracks me up is the speedo. See how it turns red at 52mph. LOL
Reminds me of all the America films with car chases.
The actor pulls a serious face as if he's driving wrecklessly and dangerously. Then the director changes picture to the speedo and it reads 80mph or similair.
LMAO
Does say (estimated) on that link. Americans are known for lieing about the power of their cars. Americans don't really care about the power. Mosty would buy it anyway.
12th demon - January 13, 2008 01:11 PM (GMT)
americans love horsepower despite what the car weighs, handles like, and what torque it produces
and i think ur wrong on the carol shelby being crap at tuning imo there the best tuner for this type of car around and are extremly succesful in motorsport
purpletimbo - January 13, 2008 01:17 PM (GMT)
Agreed on Shelby, can't discount the man who gave us the AC Cobra :D
swiftpro17 - January 13, 2008 01:28 PM (GMT)
the reason for the motorway speed limit........... :censored: :joker: :joker: lol
purpletimbo - January 13, 2008 01:32 PM (GMT)
Well how much fun would speed be if it wasn't illegal :D
swiftpro17 - January 13, 2008 01:41 PM (GMT)

American cars just arn't sophisticated.
Americans are very good at getting very little horse power out of a huge engine.
Tunning an engine of that size to produce more horse power could be done by a child.
In real life a 4.6litre super charged car can't beat a 1.8litre super charged car. Unless the 4.6litre car is American.
The handeling of those cars are also terrible.
As an example a Ford V8 built by an American produces next to no horse power.
When given to the Italians and rebuilt in can produce 806 bhp.
12th demon - January 13, 2008 01:58 PM (GMT)
as it can be done by a child how come ur not a millionaire motor tuner?
swiftpro17 - January 13, 2008 01:59 PM (GMT)
fair comment dude.........but........
i think that there are some examples of ultra high powered american motors.....such as pretty much any pro stock dragster and anything above.given they dont go round corners lol but if ya looking 4 horsepower some can deliver around 9000.
just my view :)
12th demon - January 13, 2008 02:02 PM (GMT)
i agree
the shelby daytona is all i have to say
