Title: Hi From Essex

RacingJonny - December 27, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
Just wanted to say Hi to all. I'm Jonny from Essex and I race 1/24-1/28th scale in UK and Europe. Kyosho Mini Z's are my main focus and I'm also a factory driver for TGR.

I live in Essex, UK but the club I help to run is Stafford Racers UK in Staffordshire. I know Mk2kompressor on these forums and am currently collaborating with him on a project.

We will be hosting TGR's Hurda Challenge at the end of January 2008 as Mk2 has posted on these forums and I hope to meet some more larger scale guys soon (come on, you just have to try the smaller scales out, especially the newer chassis types).

Any help I can be, just give me a shout.

Jonny

Come on Matt, you know better than to mention those things in front of me. Fine for bashing but you know what happens when you get them on a track as so many find out! People spend so much on those things when less could be spent on a serious 1/24-1/28 racer like the Mini Z or Sinister. Throw an Iwaver/Firelap our way and we can hook it up for decent track performance.

@ swiftpro17 - Thanks. I see a similar trend when mentioning my scale to larger scale guys, can I ask if you've tried a Mini Z in a race environment and if not would you consider trying one out? If not - why?

Thanks guys, Jonny

welcome aboard :)

ojay93 - December 27, 2007 09:14 PM (GMT)
iv peronaly never raced a 1/24th mini z iv only raced like argos 5 quid ones and 1/10th cars iv raced a 1/45th the tiny ones you get in airports thats the smallest iv went im a 1/10th person.

RacingJonny - December 27, 2007 10:05 PM (GMT)
Thanks Guys.

@ ojay93 - Well you can't really compare an Argos car or 1/43rd with my scale, as we're talking about hobby grade proportional cars for competitive racing and not 'toys' as such. Again, when you say you're a 1/10th person do you mean to say you aren't interested in a smaller scale for some reason and don't want to try it or would you be willing to try your hand - I'm trying to find out why people who spend money on larger cars aren't trying out racing something smaller?

Thanks again, Jonny

russmini - December 27, 2007 10:07 PM (GMT)
Welcome mate.

I would Love to try out Tiny Racing, But...

mk2kompressor - December 27, 2007 10:36 PM (GMT)
sorry jonny, you know i was joking

sure id have another 1/10 but these are so much fun to drive

id like to see the talent you guys have, used on one of these for just half an hour,we did have a 18th scale guy have a go called lee,aka 4_cell_racer,he was amazing with one of these after 10 mins of driving B)

RacingJonny - December 27, 2007 10:37 PM (GMT)
Well I'd say your money would go quite a bit further with these smaller scale cars, is that your only worry that you don't want to spend money on something else and that you spend enough on the larger cars?

What's your take on this scale? Do you see them as a serious racing class?

Thanks, Jonny

Matt - December 27, 2007 10:39 PM (GMT)
have to say i wouldn't mind having a go but i am quite happy racing 1/10 and 1/8

anything smaller just doesn't appeal as much, but yeah i'd be up for trying

Hello mate :) im from chingford what part of essex :D

RacingJonny - December 27, 2007 11:15 PM (GMT)
Thanks for your replies - I'd like some larger scale guys to give it a go to get some feedback :D

@Daniel - I'm just outside of Southend on Sea but the club I help run is in Staffordshire. I have a smaller home track but have works in progress for 2008 for a closer venue also.

i would love a try on one of those little tracks but i think 1/10th is the best cause its what most people use so easyier to get things and so on.

ojay93 - December 28, 2007 11:20 AM (GMT)
i would be up for giving it a shot but im in scotland by dundee that would be like crossing the channel times 3-4 times. and plus im under 16 so it would be difficult to get down to give it a go.

russmini - December 28, 2007 07:25 PM (GMT)
I'd give a go, no problem. Even without hesitation, but....

Don't know anywhere/anyone who Races them.

If there was somewhere Close, i might go along and have a look, and if someone was willing to let me have a go with their's, then, Yeh, i would.

Where in Staffordshire do you Race ????

Thats not too far from where i race TC.

It's 47 Miles from me.

Unfortunatly i'm Racng Rally X on Sunday, so won't be able to come and see what it's all about.

Just out of interest... How Big is that Track Overall ? Length X Width and how Wide is the Track itself ?
