Title: setup
jtr - December 14, 2007 05:53 PM (GMT)
hi im new to the forums and i havent done any rc for ages and im quite rusty on the subject.
i plan on getting a new rustler and also a mamba max 5700, and buy either 8-12 cell GP3300 or a 3SLipo.
reasons for the rustler - reliable, comes with high torque steering, and is cheap. (but you guys already knew that im sure)
do you think this is a good setup to just get back into it?

great setup mate, the rustler is good, how about buying the vxl, it comes with brushless motor/speedo
maybe the mamba would be quicker? i don't know as i'm not up on brushless but i know the rtr rustler vxl is very quick and with lipo's and geared up it will see close to 70mph!
i'm going to buy one in new year

"breakages will come soon" lol
the vxl on lipos is faster, but i have done a bit of research and i have heard that it gets SO hot that it can only go for a run time of up to 10 minutes and needs a minimum of 20 mins to cool down. with the mamba you hardly lose any speed (on youtube someone got his one to 69.8mph) and you get constant runtimes of 30 mins.
alternatively i could buy the new b44 with a mamba max but i dont know much about the b44's motor. the chassis on the b44 is rocking with it being fully carbon and aluminium, and the price is not bad either if you buy it from an ebay store in america for $319.95=£160, but i wouldnt know whether it was clever to buy the mamba max 5700 for it or not.
