Title: WANTED: Friends
Description: Another newbie into the fold...

North East Basher - November 5, 2007 06:07 PM (GMT)
Evening all.

Having had a few years away from this RC lark, I've decided to make a return.
Whilst trawling the WWW, I happened to stumble on this fine site and decided to sign up and say hello.
After sifting through the various posts and topics its clear there's a wealth of knowledge to be gleaned from the fine folk of RC-RACING.ORG.UK to help me get back in the saddle. You'll be glad to know I've lost absolutely every motorfunction when it comes to controlling an RC car as I discovered when I took control of my son's cheapie monster truck but I'm sure it'll all come flooding back.
I'm Matt, old enough to know better and live 30 miles north of Newcastle but please, don't hold that against me.

Well, thats me. I look forward to joining you all on this site.

Matt

Thanks chaps (and chapesses if there are any).

Its good to know theres a few good people outstretching the hand of friendship but its going to have to stretch quite a way if my nearest bash is going to be York or Durham!!
Ah well, I'm sure it'll be worth the travel.

To answer your question Matt, I'm into the off road RC scene and this brings me neatly to a question I'm sure has been asked of this forum 100000000000000000000000 times. I don't have a car at the moment but its coming very soon; I'm just waiting for the right one and doing a bit of homework too. I'm set on a Nitro vehicle and the eye has been wandering towards the stadium racers and have a few lined up to consider such as HPI's Firestorm or MT2. I'd considered the Evo Rush but I've told its being discontinued and I'll struggle for parts if anything goes belly-up. Also in the running is Schumachers Riot or the Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium. I'm certainly open to suggestions but feel this is the genre for me. It has to be capable of taking a bashing on a daily basis, cheap to run when it comes to parts/fuel/etc. I would rather buy new as well as I don't want to buy someone else's problems.
I've done the electric buggy thing in the past and have the funds to up the ante a bit. I have a budget of £250 - £300 to get fully kitted out as a starter and as yet I haven't been swayed by any shop talk or marketing jargon. I hoped the good people of this forum would help me make the right decision.

Matt you have listed some good cars there, my recommendation from those would be the hpi firestorm if you want 2wd or the mt2 if you want 4wd, they are both excellent, the other cars are good also but one of those hpi's would be my choice

Welcome to the Forum Matt.

Yes, you Will find Lots of Help here and at the same time have a Great Laugh !!!!!!

Think i'd edge towards the Lightening Stadium.

And the Riot looks pretty Good from what i've seen, And they're British !!!!

I knew Matt would say the HPI's... lol

Shame you've not listed a Traxxas there...

Marc.. RC Addict! - November 6, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
yeh they are all pretty good trucks matt mate, i think the best one is the lightening aswell.

But also as russ said its a shame youve not listed traxxas, But im a bit one sided when it comes to traxxas I think traxxas are the daddy of rc cars/trucks,lol

But im sure whatever you get your going to love.

ojay93 - December 17, 2007 07:55 PM (GMT)
