Title: Filling the shocks with oil
mmcrew - September 19, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)
hi guys iv got a 1.10 monster truck and i moved the springs down to make it quite stiff and when iv been out thrashing it about a bit with the force its pushed all the oil out of a tiny hole at the top of the shocks,
the hole was there before, it must be like a kinda overflow hole etc rather than popping off the top of the shocks lol
now iv taken them apart and tried to refill them with soft oil, i pull the shock out all the way fill them up, work the shaft up and down a bit to make sure i have no air bubbles and then re connect everything back up again, but as soon as i press ion the shock it just pours out again of the hole,
am i doing something wrong
cheers
Lee

what grade oil are you using?
and is the seal in top-cap ok?
mmcrew - September 19, 2007 02:16 PM (GMT)
its a tamiya oil, i cant remember the grade but i no its saying soft on the bottle, i can find out later, the seal at the top looks ok, no cracks etc in it,

normally as u tighten down the cap it blocks off the bleed hole with the seal

ok i will have another try also when i mentioned the air filter how it seemed to not hav allot of space for air flow
iv now found out that its called a moisture guard,
its similar to this

so are these ok
thankx in advance

looks very restrictive airfilter, wouldn't be my choice

thats what i thought, thats why im thinkin of buying a new one
they say the case is for heavier wether conditions, like raining to stop masses of water going into the carb,

true looks like its weatherproof, in that case buy a normal filter for use in dry conditions and then if you do race/bash when its wet pop that filter back on
