Ambulance09 - July 29, 2007 12:14 PM (GMT)
i say 11

Because this is a RC Forum, i'm guessing you meen RC Car, not Proper Car.

If so...

There really should be No age limit.

Alec's got his 1st RC Car already and he's 1 !!!!!

Already looking around for a Cheap, Biggish Off Road car for him, cause he loves my Hyper/Revo/E-Maxx.

Obviously he can't use them yet, but he does play with them by pushing around and climbing on them !!!

And Minimonty has been playing for years now. And there are others on here with kids that have been using RC Cars for a bit and theyre all younger than your minimum.

As a general age, i would say the Younger the Better. That way by the time they would reach Your Minimum age, they'd Already be able to Kick Ass !!!

Now, ok, they Shouldn't be able/allowed to have crazy fast stuff, at the end of the day to learn proper control etc, slower is better anyway, then they just work their way up, with Better and Faster cars.

There are a few kids i Race against in TC and Rally X who have been Racing for a few years now, and trust me, they are Good. Their age... From 11 !!!!!!!!!!! And No older than 14 !!!!!!!

So, unfortuntly i can't Vote on your poll, cause i don't think it goes Young enough.

gotta agree with russ too my 19month old has a mardave mini to push and has just stolen my lads bart simpson skateboard r/c thing too which she is using the remote to ram my ankles with and while she has very little control really after practice it will come naturally

start em young is the way!!!

i think i was about 3 or 4 when i got my first and they are still coming thick and fast!!!!! mind you still cant drive em properly lol

OliverChance - July 29, 2007 12:40 PM (GMT)
But most kids that start young are introduced and funded by there Father or Mother  and are given kit to use and race but i started by generally stumbling across a forum and had a look around and decided i'm getting one of them

so i only got enough money to get one at Christmas and my trials and tribulations have started from there, it is hard on me not having my dad knowing much about them but he has common sense and is good with his hands so he can help make ramps and drive me to the model shop and to bashes so he does help quite alot,

but now i have a job i can start to make this hobby more interesting and generally have fun so me and me alone have set a concrete starting block and can build on it so i feel quite good about that  ,

I think it is better me doing this all by my self because then i know the little tips, i know the hard bits and the bits that are essential because if you find something wrong you can source it, fix or replace it then carry on trucking :P but if a kid was given all the kit and they haven't earn t the money to buy it they aren't gonna give it respect and that means breaking it also not knowing how to maintein the model or little tips so this is why i think going alone in this hobby generally gives more

well these are my views so say what you will,

thanks,

Oli. B)

Younger the better, my mate runs a nitro racing club in Ireland, and a 9 year old came to his first meet and won the TC race with his Nitro 1/10 Subaru, he picked wheel tyre combo and set it up himself for handling, so age is no barrier :D

Lozi - July 29, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
I was 6 when i got my first, a QD Clodbuster!

Ambulance09...

I've just Edited your poll..

Hope you don't mind too much, but after other responses i felt the last option is definatly applicable.

12th demon - July 29, 2007 05:44 PM (GMT)
had my first race car when i was 13 but there are kids wher ei used to race that are around 8 i think

tomstacey - July 29, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
Yikes I think I was about 6 when I got my first RC car, but that was because I'm so old they weren't really about before then. It helped having a brother 11 years older than me cos I always inherited cars that were for older kids.

I started racing when I was 12 I think, which in hindsight might have been a little bit young as I was a menace on the track!!

I guess if you can be fairly responsible with an RC, age shouldn't make a difference. :)

I ive clicked younger the better, but thats for electric not nitro,,LOL
with electric cars/trucks any age is fine i think, put it this way if they can move their fingers put a controller in their hand and see how they do. :joker:

But a nitro one is a different matter, not only does it depend on age but i think skill aswell, But i think about 8 - 9 or 10 depending on the skill and stuff, lol

Russ, alec's got a car already nice one mate, good age to start him off, what did ya get him?? Didnt give him the E MAXX did ya,,lol

russmini - July 29, 2007 09:15 PM (GMT)

He's got a Mini of course !!!!!!!

Think he Broke it though... lol

He pushes it around, leaning on it. Think the steering servo may well be Fucked !!!

Thats another reason i want a biggish buggy/truck for him.
