Title: Mi3's 2nd Race... Indoors

russmini - May 26, 2007 08:45 AM (GMT)
Well, i changed all the setup to basically Chris Ashton's in the manual for indoors.

Got to where i usually Race indoors and got ready to see how it was.

1st thing you have to remember.. I have Not got a Diff yet, so i had to run with the Spool fitted. Which on a usually sub 10 sec lap would probably be useless !!!

Round 1,

Well, i went out and it was pretty obvious the Mi3 would be a Handful !!!
In the tight confines of this indoor track a Diff is needed. Which i knew it would be really, i just havn't got one yet.

Round 2,

Sorry, but i got the Yoke out !!
It was setup for outdoors, i changed the gearing and left the rest as was.
Damn that was a different story !!!
I had a nice run and put in a good time, to secure 2nd for the night.

Round 3,

Back to the Mi3...

I changed the front toe-in to parellel, To help with the corner entry, also loosened the rear diff as it was a bit tight form when i built it. Felt a lot better now.
Out on the Track it was different to the first round, but still not on a par with the Yoke.
Looking at the times at the end... The M3 was actually as quick on a single lap, but it was just too hard to keep it up lap after lap.

Round4,

Back to the Yoke...

I altered the ride hieght and that was it.. lol
had to get back into Yoke driving style, but was then going nice...
All until i clipped a hose, barral rolled and found a pack of Cells Underneath the Chassis, not on it !!! Oops !!!

Oh well, night over..

Thoughts...

The Mi3 didn't really stand a chance, and i knew that before i'd even got there.
But o be honest i thought it went better than what i thought it might.
I'll now go off and spend some More cash on a Diff, which i would think will transform it for Indoors.
Also gonna get a few other bits and pieces for it, like SPur gears, washers etc etc.

More reports to come as and when i Race.

Oh, and it wasn't as bad switching between the 2, so i may do that again so i can get comparisons.

Oh, and last thing... Think i've changed my mind about the Yoke... It's now staying put and will be prepped to be a WET Car !!!!
