Title: Another Project Drift!
Lozi - May 10, 2007 03:10 PM (GMT)
right after building my mates tt-01 escort cossie the other day, wrapping leccy tape round the tires and having a 2 weeks worth of drifting fun i decided i want 1!
i have bought a tt-01 ferrari enzo nib with no shell or wheels off a mate and i am going to set it up for drifting (ill do a bit more than just leccy tape on this 1) i could have had the ferrari shell and rims with it for sum extra £ but im not really into supercars and its not really much of a drifter shell!
heres a pic of the kit

i have also bought a mtroniks max 2000 speedo and have been given a set of shonkey 5 spoke rims! spray em black they will be fine

i have ordered and awaiting arrival of ballrace set, alloy prop shaft, alloy motor mount and trinity co27 monster cobalt stock motor! im not sure what other hop-ups to get, opinions?
tirewise i think im gunna take the cheap option at first with leccy tape and look into other options later!
gearbox wise im confused and dont have a clue what is the best way to lock the diffs as i have read so many different opinions i dunno whick to do lol!

nice lil project there. what shell you gonna go for?
Lozi - May 10, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
every1 gets jap drift shells so i wanna be different! im well into fords so a cosworth of some description is favourite atm but im considering e30 and e36 3 series bmw's as well!

e30 m3 shell gets my vote B)
Lozi - May 10, 2007 04:48 PM (GMT)

sierra cosworth on ebay atm hmmmmm
monty - May 10, 2007 05:32 PM (GMT)
the sierra cossie shell wont fit im afraid pal its a 'kyosho 1/10 wide' which is nearer 1/8th and just wont go on no matter what u do :(
as for diff locking on a tt01 the easiest (read cheapest :) way is to just whack a chunk of blue tac in when you build the diff
as for wheels in the future:
fast & furious (tamiyaclub member) does some awesome all in one drift wheels/tyres for about £5 a set of four and he has a new 20 spoke design now aswell as the old xr3i type i think you can find him on ebay also
Lozi - May 10, 2007 05:43 PM (GMT)
shame that shell wont fit, it will have to be an escort then i think, thanks for your advice on the drift setup!
it was pretty much gunna be bluetak or hot glue, bluetak does seem easier lol!

people go for jap shells because most drift cars are jap cars. erm wheels go on ebay theres some moulded abs all in ones the go for about a fiver i bought some to try they need bedding in but then there good but the newer yokomo ones u cant beat them!
Lozi - May 10, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
i know the jap cars are the kings of drifting but i just wanna be different, plus im cosworth mad! :mallet:
i may have to look into those abs wheels as there so cheap!
Matt - May 10, 2007 10:00 PM (GMT)
how about the escort cosworth wrc shell?
think its tamiya that do it
Lozi - May 10, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
thats what my mates got, its a firm favourite atm!
Lozi - May 11, 2007 11:17 AM (GMT)
Had an arrival today! i was hoping for my hop-ups so i could start building but this will do to keep me happy for now!
trinity co27 monster cobalt stock motor

i feel the shell is gunna be the most important part of this car! ive narrowed it down to tamiya escort cosworth/wrc or tamiya e30 m3, whicheva i come across first! i will be going for the plain colour street look as that is what im into!

Another thing you can try is the D-box from HPI. It's the perfect drift cheap if you just want to focus on hitting your angles and not worry to much about the steering!!
