Title: Found in a shed...will it run again?

wolfieuk - April 11, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
hi all,

after someone seeing me out with my new swift the other day i got handed this, was found under loads of crap.

Can anyone put a name to it, the only markings are vx-12 on the lump
looks in good condtion just needs a very good clean, the fuel tank has what looks like oil in it so that needs a flush out to start, from what i can see the only thing missing is a front drive shaft. it's even got what looks like a 2 speed gear box
it's got full radio gear to,

can you try get a clearer photo mate?

at first glance it looks to me like a kyosho

wolfieuk - April 11, 2007 09:39 PM (GMT)
sorry my camra's crap, i was thinking maybe kyosho, pureten maybe?

Jono - April 11, 2007 10:08 PM (GMT)
you sure it says vx on the engine not gx ?

I reckon it definetly a kyosho is it shaft driven or belt driven?
Shaft driven is a SuperTen and if its belt driven it is a PureTen

looks like top chassis plate is missing in ur pic see below

Any chance of a pic of the radio gear?
It looks like a smartech clone, I have a 2 speed one with gold chassis, looks rather like that, comes with a distinctive handset with gold steering wheel

the bloke that gave it me came over today with a book it's a good book told me how to take it to bits  so guess what my day was filled of. stripped cleaned oiled rebuilt, now looking a little better, and runs to, still need work on the set up it kept dying but think that was just the servo links not set up right,
Had to change the rx tho servo's was twitching to hell, and book says it should be running 10% nitro feul and i only got 20% it went well tho
will using the 20% kill it?

Timbo the radio gear had been fitted at the LHS and was futarba 40 am the stick tranny with 3003 servo's

the book says it is a protech nitro fun .12, anyone ever heard of it?
i need a drive shaft, i'm thinking that kyosho pureten one might be a close match, but got to check the size yet.

I know the shells not great but was all i had laying around, i stripped it best i could and srayed it silver/gray and made some window masks from some surface covering stuff.

over all it think it looks ok and will make a nice little runner

If it is a kyosho pureten shaft I have plenty
And it should be like this one on ebay then, I had a NIB Protech SRT2 Truggy, very nice build quality, but spares were Germany only.

Timbo thanks for the links, thats the one, just mine must be an earlier model cos not got the nice gold shock mounts just got plastic, but more or less the same,
However, i do have one the very same coming soon, while i was out running my swift a bloke from the next block of flat come out watching , then came over to ask about the car, anyway after a little chat it came about he had a nitro in his shed(Lots of shed by me B) ) that he didnt get chance to use and was going sell it, i had to ask how much ( you just have to really) £50 he said, worth a look i thinks, i'll go get it he said, and what would you know, a minter protech in it's box RTR and a little box of bits glow start, charger, box tin of 16% fuel,wheels,2 body shells, after another chat he needs a pc i got one doing nother so £100 and his nitro for my pc, good day i think, new parts for swift LOL   ,

Timbo i'm sure a pureten one will fit, still not got round to seing how long they are buti'll take a look tomorrow.
