TORC, Bedworth
Race report by Elliott Harper
The weather forecast was very good for October and Saturday saw blue skies with a slight breeze and Sunday was similar. This set the scene for a very enjoyable final round of the 2006 outdoor season.
Interference impacted my first qualifier, but this was resolved by the second. New tyres on the 3rd qualifier saw me qualify in 4th position for the A final with a PB of 19/303.76.
The first A final saw me quickly off the line moving into 3rd place by the first bend and challenging the leaders. I continued to follow the leaders in close formation for the first 3 mins. and it was clear the Cyclone was on the pace until I clipped a corner. A multiple roll lost me valuable seconds and allowed the chasing pack to recover ground. I was well ahead and returned to the race still in 3rd position, but had lost the initiative on the 2 leading cars and I finished in 3rd place.
The 2nd A again saw me off the mark quickly following close on the heels of Mirage team mate Dom Carter (X-RAY). I had to ease off on the second bend to stop clipping Dom from behind and unfortunately was spun off the track by following cars. This moved me form 4th to last and by the time I was marshalled back onto the track, the 9th place tail lights were just a spec on the horizon, I had lost 6 secs.. However, I fought back and by the end of the second lap I was about half a straight behind the 9th car and catching fast. I had nothing to lose so I pushed the car as hard as it would go. The Cyclone stuck to the track even although I could feel the car leaning heavily on the tight bends, but the car and drive gear were operating exceptionally well. Slowly the pace paid off as I picked off the back markers one by one, eventually finishing in a respectable 4th place and feeling my Cyclone had really performed when I needed it and achieved my personal best lap of 15.49secs. Overall I finished 4th on the day.
Congratulations to Dom Carter (XRAY) who won the second race and came 3rd overall on the day.

Saturday
I arrived there on the Saturday and the car was working well at all, I thought that water had got into the servo from the week before because it didn't seem like the servo was self centring. I swapped the servo but the same problem was still happening so we changed all the bearings thinking one or two may have collapsed. By this time it was dark so it would mean getting up earlier and trying the car tomorrow.
Round 1
It was still the same so we tried drying out the receiver. The first round had started now so I would see in the first round the car was ok and it was really good, I got taken out at the start but pulled it back and finished fifth overall.
Round 2
I started of well and made my way up to the front three the qualifying went well and I was third overall right behind Ian Whittingham and Andrew Robson.
Round 3
I stayed on the same tyres saving new tyres for the finals. I was in second place the whole race just behind Ian and Andrew was just behind me on the last lap I just clipped a curve and that meant Andrew Robson got closer to be me, he just beat on stagger so I qualified 3rd overall. Here are the overall qualifying positions.

Final 1
I made a poor start due to me having new tyres on so I was in sixth by the first lap and I was trying to get back but got taken out and went to last I pulled it all the way back by the end and finished 4th.

Race report by Andrew Smith
Looking forward to this one with all my racing mates and a bar on site to boot!
I had three good heats but I couldn't improve on P6 in the A Final. With my teammates in front and behind me I had to watch what I was doing. A good start put me up to P4 but not for long, as I touched the grass and spun out, collecting my team mate on the way. This wasn't part of the plain, but it happened that way...after that my race went down hill, even breaking my chassis. In the last final my T2 was very sick, and I was struggling to keep the car racing. A true racer to the bitter end, this was not the way I wanted to finish 2006 touring car series, but how many times have you heard that one!
Race report by Dan Dixon
We travelled down on the Saturday to get some track time in which went well the car very stable and could be pushed hard and I was very happy with the car. I qualified 8th in the final with a time of 18 laps 309.04 with a best lap of 16.70.
The finals the first final I was going really well and I was up to fourth place and gaining on third when I was told I did not have a transponder in my car so I pulled the car off (Dads fault!). Second final had a really good race I finished 7th with a time of 18 laps in a time of 305.90 and a best lap of 16.31.I have attached my setup for round 13.
The years results for the TORC series gave me a result of 9 th position overall in the Formula 1 class!
