Hi all,
Just wanted to ask if everyone is happy with the site? and if there is any improvements or additions you would like to see? or maybe you'd like it to stay as it is? let us know what you think please.

Thanks, Matt.

:joker: :joker: :joker: :joker:

The sites wicked, as it always has been.

I know Stoney was a bit peeved with the Lack of Racing lately, but that will improve when a few of us Start Racing again in Sept.

We just need a few more members to take the plunge and start threads.

I know some have started question type threads, but as i said on another thread, we need general stuff as well.

This has always been a Good Forum and i think it will stay that way.

With the hardcore always post members and the new members joining frequantly

WE WILL SURVIVE !!!!!!!!!!

Just something I have noticed recently. If I click on the "View New posts" button, it doesn't show all the new posts (as highlighted on the main forum page) Sometimes tells me no new posts, but there are some in various sections?

PS Matt, still got your video...Not sold it, and have the DVD version also ready to post back with it!

Matt - August 27, 2006 12:56 PM (GMT)
the new posts feature sometimes doesn't work i know, sorry about that i have looked into it and i think its a bug with the forum software

i use the forum markers for keeping an eye on new posts they change to a darker blue when posts are made in each forum

p.s. no problems about the vid mate, take as long as u need B)

Really liking the forum here guys.. Great sense of community, helped by some very friendly and good humoured Admins (A rarity these days!).

One suggestion I have though; I think there are too many categories for the number of users. Sure I understand the need to have a place for posts related to ALL the different areas of RC (and there seem to be billions of genres these days - it was easier when it was just 1/8 and 1/12 on road and 1/10 off road eh?) but, its hard to find stuff, and it means there is a danger of cross-posting for one thing.

Also it means conversations (the heart of all online communities) get a bit fragmented and hard to follow.

I reckon if we could cut down the number of places you can post from 30 odd, to about 10/15, we'd probably encourage more users and generally be a more helpful place where folks come to find info and discuss RC.

I don't want to be seen as sticking my foot in here, especially as I'm still quite new here, but I do like this forum, it just feels more like home than lots of other places I hang out online.

Oh and I design online communities for a living so I feel quite passionate about this kind of stuff!!

I hope we can have a discussion about this. :)

Tom over and out.

Well, it's nice you Big up us Admin's....

We try our best to keep things nice and easy and not loads of Rules !!!! Like other Forums. i.e. Links, pics, advertisements, for sales. Any one can post these things. We don't care as such, it means every one on here benefits from someones Knowledge.

We have had our problems with some members, but that seems a long time ago now.

We are here to have a Forum that as you say that is a Friendly community, not a Stuffy pass comment place.

I take on board what you have said about the amount of Categories and........

Mmmmmmmmmm

Not too sure. I kinda like that everything has got a place to go and not just all bundled/mudled up in a few Categories.

But, as i said at the start of this Post...

Thanks for the comments and any suggestions anyone has we will take on board and try to make this... OUR Forum... The Best there is !!!!!!

Glad you appreciate the suggestions.. they're only that too; suggestions, not complaints :) Its cool you have a place to do that in too.

What may be the best course of action for me is to to think about how I'd envision the categories and how I think we could let things have their place and still be well ordered?

I'll let some other admins have a think about my suggestions too first i spose..

Off to drive my Mini-inferno around a darkened car park now!! :cruising:

good suggestion

i know we did have this when we first started it all up to be honest but it was so hard to kinda 'lose' the categories as when we tried and removed a few we were inundated with " where should i post this and that" etc which is what kind of led to the layout we have now with everything having its own place and so hopefully making it easier to post in the correct places and this is how it has just stayed since.

By all means if you can help out and re-organise it to something that would work out even better and easier for newer guys im sure we will all be really grateful to you

it was always our intention to make this easy to use and a fun and easy going place so anything that helps improve that can only be good!!

Matt - November 30, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
Was reading through and catching up then but Russ and Monty have covered my views also

nice suggestion though Tom, if you do come up with a layout which could work better let one of us know and we'll happily discuss it further

Matt

tomstacey - November 30, 2006 03:55 PM (GMT)
Hey Guys,

Yeah, I'll try and come up with a better layout.. Its not that there is anything wrong with the way it is, I just reckon it could be laid out in a way which would be easier for new folk to find stuff and engage them, thus keeping them on this site (which can only be a good thing!).

Thinking cap engaged.. :D

russmini - November 30, 2006 07:03 PM (GMT)
Keep up the Good work then Tom.

Hi Andy,

You can turn off saved messages feature which means basically if you send a message it won't save a copy to your sent box, therefore halving the amount of messages over time. there is a box to untick...

We can increase the inbox capacity if this doesn't help.

The site is fine in my book, the only thing I think we all ned to do, is to start looking at getting our own track somewhere!!!
